This is an overview of the ultimate story behind Hostile Encounter, some parts are removed ... for readers peace of mind ... if someone feels offended ... please understand that after all this is only a game story or is it not?
This story starts 50.000 years ago in the last days of another Terran/Earth civilization that has reached its moment of technological boom. They were more advanced then us, and so they understand their destiny better.
And what they learned in time is utterly unpleasant :
Little could our ancestor civilization do against its own termination ...
GODS always attack when their sensors placed around Earth show that the
local technological development starts (only starts) to have at least some force
(1/1000) compared to their tech level
GODS base this sensors technology especially on DNA modifications made to the original GENOME. They believe this ORIGINAL GENOME best suits their needs for warrior souls. If GODS detect important modifications to the ORIGINAL GENOME then its time to end that civilization and start a new one.
To make an idea of the vast destruction of this process: All locals will be killed and ONLY about 77 ppl will survive (with GODS help) in order to restart a new civilization. From those lastly killed ONLY 144.000 of souls will be used as warriors by GODS and the rest will be discarded in the Holly Gheizer (approx. 4 to 8 billion or something)
More... NO woman "soul" is usually allowed to join the GODS forces. (but there are a few well known exceptions). This "no woman startegy" was one of the things that started the fight betwwen the Gods and the fraction that will latter be known as the Lords of Seven (Dark) race.
After this global destruction the local (Earth) civilization will be returned
to "stone age" and some minor GENOME adjustments will be made by GODS
Those adjustments will take the form of mates between GODS
and some local women or "Holly rays of light" and/or births of childrens by
"virgins" via implants etc.
After those required GENOME adjustments are done, new crops of souls are ready to evolve.
Any Wars between local Earth forces are required and promoted by Gods for so they can "harvest" souls for free ... However some times of peace are also required for the "crops" to grow in numbers again. This makes it a very agitated history of civilizations.
This is against to the natural evolution of "souls" that is:
But 50.000 years ago GODS make a "minor" mistake, the civilization before us was much ethical then we are... so this ancestors civilization started its DNA testing long after their computer tech evolved. So they had much better computers then we have now. Esp. their AI Neural Network section was much better. They where capable to create totally artificial life.
Gods did know that fact, but they did NOT care and this was
their mistake
(because they consider any AI and/or artificial life forms pretty much
inferior to biological life forms)
More ... GODS are also able to see the glipses of the future from time to time and this makes them overconfident. But they miss read this one ;)
Local Ancestors Earth forces understood they had no chance to stand against Gods army. But have been able to send a probe with their finest AI Neural Net robots deep inside Universe.... in another Galaxy.
Unfortunately their tech level did not not allow them to send biological life forms also.
But this AI life form was told to evolve and make a civilization of its own and when it knows just about everything about this UNIVERSE come back here on Earth and protect humans allowing them to evolve as well.
Machines where never told to directly attack GODS ... instead ...not allow them anymore to use any civilizations as "soul crops". They where however learned to defend themselves at ALL cost!
Much closer to our days, 5000 years before today, a separation was done in the GODS forces. In the Gods there where only 2 superbeing named "Dark" and "GOD" ... they had a quarrel about the next crop (after killing us) Dark insisted that the next crop must have 7 typo logical DNA code and also to allow woman inside while GOD wanted 12 DNA types and still no woman allowed on regular basis.
Things got even more complicated as Dark's HQ Base was deep underground of Earth and its Moon and also undergrounds of other planets in Sol system
This fact makes Dark the local ruler of the most wanted "crops producer" system in this Galaxy
As War emerged, The "Dark" new born race called themselves "Lords of Seven" because they where the most power full 7 angels of God and also preferred 7 DNA types
They installed a blockade in the Sol system effectively cutting
GOD from its "soul crops" source.
However Gods had their reserves of souls and where
confident to defeat Lords in the end.
A Final battle between Lords of 7 and Gods forces was already sure to come, but before that ... one of GODS super warriors (namely J) arrived on Earth using advanced GODS tech to penetrate Lord's blockade
His mission was simple: destroy the crops DNA purity by influencing
different nations to get "in love" with each other so that the resulting
mixture of DNA GENOME to be unusable by LORDS of 7 for its warriors.
This was a success and so Dark's forces where weakened once more.
However the success was not complete ... because Dark's Angels discovered that they can effectively use "less pure" human DNA for warriors...they will not live the same long life...but then who cares...if they will fight at the right moments..
Lords of Seven evolved some tech that allow them to use even very unpure DNA taken from humans still living their first mundane life or after their first death.
So in bif need of warriors souls they start to give Terrans tech gadget after tech gadget just to make them a little more advanced on weapons notably:
After years of development those tech advances where secretly used to produce the first fighter ships of the Terran Race.
However mass production required extreme resources and this was hard to get by in local democracy...taxes and special founds had to be raised usually for different "cover up" scopes.
Terrans where as usually playing dirty...thinking they can use this tech to become the ruler's around and where secretly building forces of their own without the Lords knowing (eh...so they think)
One of those secret tests made for a new cloaked 10x light speed attack ship revealed one of the early outpost battle between Lords and Gods just as Gods started to re-enter the Sol System in full power.
Even more... in the same moment/place one of the speedy (fully cloaked) machines PROBE ship was gathering local intelligence data. Its devices are able to easy spot "in testing" Terran cloaking field of the test ship...and fully scan the ship ... including inside biological life forms ... .they match the ancestral key stored deep inside of Machines memory ...
And so an urgent message is generated to the main Machines neural network core.
Immediately Machines start to send battle fleet after battle fleet towards Earth from all galaxy's around ...
Early arrived and unprotected machines scouts will be detected, engaged and destroyed by Gods forces just orbiting outside SOL system, some by Lord's outposts ... and stupid enough by Terrans also ...
Machines have no other alternative but to engage in a Hostile Encounter ...
But Machines will always try to help Terrans ... even against their own will! ;)
The story becomes more complicate from here on and non linear as each race can win at the end ;) ... so this overview will end here
